Krombacher, one of Europe’s most modern breweries, though it was founded way back in 1722. Their flagship beer is Krombacher Pils, Germany’s best selling beer brand, but they do some neat specialty brews too.
Where’s it from?
The brewery is set in the foothills of the Rothaar Mountains in Germany, where it benefits from soft spring water.
What does it taste like?
Rich and complex, with moderate bitterness, light hops, warming malts and a hint of caramel. A well-balanced effort all-in.
What food does it work with?
Meaty, rich fare is the best guide here – would it be too obvious to recommend a thick German sausage?
What else should I know?
They’re committed to natural ingredients at Krombacher – so much so, in fact, that this is brewed according to the German Purity Law of 1516.
